This morning, I received an email inquiry for bass guitar lessons. When I told him how much my lessons cost, his reply was,
"I think I’ll have to look elsewhere for right now, those prices are just a little out of my price range at the moment."
When you hire a professional music instructor to drive to your house for a one-hour lesson each week, you should expect to pay for a few things.
1) The average music teacher should get paid anywhere from $.80 - $1.40/minute (or more), just for the lesson time. This, of course, depends on the location of the student.
2) Then the average cost of fuel for the vehicle, maintenance for the vehicle, tolls, wear and tear on the vehicle and the drive time, should all be figured into the rate/hour of the lessons.
