The process of me becoming a published writer on Substack was almost purely coincidental...I think. I had been writing on Tumblr, but I lost interest after about a year. Once I decided to go back to teaching guitar lessons in 2021, I felt like I wanted to start writing again.
Then, I saw a video that Rick Beato did with Ted Gioia:
…and I heard Ted talk about about Substack for writers. I looked into it and found that I could just as easily start my very own newsletter - and maybe even get paid to write. So, I chose to write about a subject matter I know well - Music.
I came up with the title for my newsletter: "SoundHole", when I walked past my guitar and looked at the Soundhole of the guitar. I thought, "Hey, that would be a great name for my newsletter!"
I have since published 347 articles on SoundHole; and I currently have 112 subscribers and 151 followers. I still find it amazing that so many of my loyal subscribers enjoy reading my articles. I do my absolute best to be honest and accurate with every article I post. I want to share with my readers what I think is interesting in music, guitar stuff and lessons, technology and many other subjects.
Today marks two years since my very first article. I have also started two other Substack newsletters on other subjects. I love to write and share my thoughts and ideas. If my articles help you become a better guitar player, then my words serve their purpose.
Thank-you for your continued loyalty and interests in my newsletter.
I appreciate it very much,
Dave
