I will be forever grateful to my band director from high school, Al Clausen. He gave me the opportunity to be part of a big thing in my school. That big thing was the Horicon Horn Band.
I became the bassist for the band in the second semester of my Sophomore year at Walden III high school in Racine, WI. This was in January 1979. I played in the HHB all the way through to the end of my senior year. We even made a vinyl record in the studio next to the band room. It was an “all-student” project.
Rick Beato is about 13 months older than me, so needless to say, he and I have a lot in common, musically. He talks about some of those commonalities in this video he posted today. I thought that I would share this with you.
By all means, comment your thoughts and stories.
