No students scheduled at the music store, yet.
Never assume you have a job until you are actually scheduled to work.
Getting hired on part time job as a teacher at Sam Ash music store in East Orlando.
I was excited, elated and so looking forward to starting a part-time job teaching guitar lessons at the local Sam Ash music store in East Orlando. This job would fit perfectly with my normal lessons scheduling, and I wouldn’t ever have to deal with the type of stress I endured at the airport a few years ago.
The managers of the store expedited the paperwork to get me hired on as a Sam Ash employee, and everything was a “green light”. I was under the assumption that there were students already waiting for an available teacher. That was over a month ago, and I’m still waiting.
I just sent an email to the manager of the store and to the corporate scheduling department in VA, asking them to please advise me of the next steps that need to be taken to get me scheduled. I also told them that I simply cannot afford to keep two days of the week designated for the store if I’m not actually working there.
I just heard back from the scheduling department:
“They don’t have any new students to schedule.”
This is exceptionally disappointing, but not surprising. I want to be hopeful, but I know that this particular store hasn’t done well in many years. Since being back in Orlando since 2020, I have been in that store at least a half dozen times, not including during the hiring process - and each time I have been in there, the store has been virtually empty. I honestly don’t understand how this location is still open.
Like I said, I will try to remain hopeful.
