Kip Winger - In the summer of 1988, a new rock band hit the radio. “Winger” released their debut album entitled simply, "Winger", which spawned such rock hits as "Madalaine", "Seventeen" and "Headed for a heartbreak". Named after the bassist/lead singer, Kip Winger, Winger went on to release two more monster albums: "In the heart of the young" and (my favorite) "Pull". Winger (the band) took a long hiatus in the later 1990's, mostly due to the rise of grunge rock. It also didn't help matters when the popular MTV cartoon series, "Beavis and Butthead", inadvertently, influenced an entire generation of teenagers into having preconceived notions about Winger's music as being "uncool" because one of the characters in the show, Stewart, a somewhat unpopular, nerdy kid, who frequently wore a “Winger” t-shirt.
