"Playing it cool" was released in 1997. I was 34 years old that year. In January, my then friend, band mate and roommate, Frank and I moved into a two bedroom/two bath apartment about three miles west of the University of Central Florida. The evening that we were moving all of our stuff into our new apartment, I had my stereo tuned to a local mainstream jazz station called WLOQ. A song came on, just as I was walking through the living room, and I stopped in my tracks. I sat and listened to this amazing bass line being played on this new song I had never heard before. Frank stopped and we both listened to the song. I must admit, at first, I wasn't really paying attention to the guitar until about half way through the song.
