How many chords exist mathematically on the guitar? It might be as many as 22,000! Do you need to know that many in order to pay the guitar? No, but you do need to know how to play a lot of chords, especially if you want to expand your abilities past the beginner stages. Triads and a few 7th chords is a good start, but what about those weird, obscure jazz chords with extensions and bigger numbers? Well, in all honesty, they’re just chords with different structures. They shouldn’t look or feel intimidating, just because you don’t see them in popular music.
