I'm not exactly sure how old I was when I went for my first ever audition to join a local rock band. I was probably 15 years old. I do know that I hadn't started playing the bass guitar yet, so the audition was for a guitarist. I think I got the audition from a kid in the local high school, through a friend. I was still in junior high (middle) school, so these guys were definitely older than me. I didn't have a clue what would be expected of me. I had never been to an audition before. I wanted to try it because I wanted to see what it was like to be in a band.
My old man drove me to the house a few miles away and dropped me off. I told him that I would call when we were done. I remember the audition was in the basement of the house, because that's where the band rehearsed. I had never seen so much equipment.
