A short list of songs for beginner guitarists.
Painfully easy - Just a few chords - Everyone knows them.
You have a guitar. You think you might need to take guitar lessons. You probably do. Why do you want to play the guitar? You probably want to show off for your friends out on the back porch - or you just love music so much that you gotta play! It doesn't matter your reason for wanting to play the guitar. You should at least try it. In order to play the guitar, you need to know a few things.
Chords
You will eventually need to know about 20-30 chords off the top of your head. You can probably play thousands of songs with less. Regardless, every song you learn will almost assuredly have a chord in it that you've never played before. The idea is to learn these new chords with these new songs.
Tuning
You can't play your guitar if the strings aren't tuned properly. You can download free apps that have tuners. Just so you know, "concert pitch" is 440hz. That's "Middle C" on the piano for you novices. Your strings are numbered one through six - six being the string closest to your face. In order, the strings also have note names:Â
6 - E, 5 = A, 4 = D, 3 = G 2 = B and 1 - E.
An easy way to remember this is to use the first letter for each word in the following sentences" "Elephants Always Drink Good Beer Everyday" or "Every Acid Dealer Get Busted Eventually." You will also need a guitar pick. Use a medium pick - something around .60-.66mm.
Okay, on with the list! In no particular order, I will also add a number to the end of each song in the list with a difficulty range of 1-10 - (1 being the easiest, 10 being the most difficult.)
